Sabah, Malaysia, October 13, 2026 — BabyCare Child Specialist Clinic, also known as Klinik Pakar Kanak Kanak Dr Yeoh, has updated information about its vaccination services for infants and children. The clinic offers affordable vaccination options and outlines recommended ages and dose schedules for several vaccines and also RSV antibody injection.

The services cover protection against rotavirus, diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis, polio, Haemophilus influenzae type B, hepatitis B, pneumococcal disease, influenza, measles, mumps, rubella, Japanese encephalitis, chickenpox, hepatitis A, meningococcal disease, dengue and typhoid. The clinic also provides Nirsevimab (Beyfortus) for RSV infection prevention.

Rotavirus vaccine RotaTeq is given orally in three doses, beginning as early as 2 months of age, with the final dose before 8 months (32 weeks). The clinic recommends doses at 3, 4 and 5 months.

The six-in-one Infanrix Hexa or Hexaxim vaccine is scheduled at 2, 3, 5 and 18 months.

Pneumococcal vaccination uses PCV15 Vaxneuvance or PCV20 Prevenar 20, with three or four doses starting as early as 2 months. Suggested timing is 4 and 6 months, with optional doses at 10 months. Booster is to be given at 15 months.

Influenza vaccination starts from 6 months and consists of two doses one month apart; the clinic recommends doses at 7 and 8 months, followed by annual vaccination.

The clinic lists MMR doses at 9 and 12 months, and Japanese encephalitis vaccine Imojev at 11 and 23 months. Chickenpox vaccination is given after the first birthday in two doses three months apart, suggested at 13 and 16 months. Hepatitis A vaccination also begins after age 1, with two doses six months apart, suggested at 20 and 26 months. Nimenrix meningococcal vaccination is recommended as one dose at 14 months.

Qdenga dengue vaccination is for children aged 4 and older, in two doses three months apart. Typhoid vaccination is one dose from age 2.

Nirsevimab (Beyfortus) is an RSV antibody, not a vaccine, and can be given at any time starting from birth. Beyfortus is a long-acting monoclonal antibody that helps protect babies from Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV), a common virus that can cause severe bronchiolitis and pneumonia in infants. It is priced at RM2100.

Unlike a vaccine, it provides ready-made antibodies, so protection begins immediately after injection. It can be given to newborns and also premature infants. Basically it is to be given as young and as soon as possible. In our country Malaysia, RSV season is all year round but it usually will peak at 2nd half of the year from July onwards till December.

Who should receive Beyfortus?

– All infants < 8 months old entering their first RSV season.

– Children up to 24 months of age who remain at high risk of severe RSV disease (such as those with certain chronic lung, heart, or immune conditions) entering their second RSV season. In this scenario, 2nd dose of Nirsevimab can be given again.

– If the mother received the RSV vaccine ≥14 days before birth, then the baby does not need Nirsevimab as maternal own antibody offers protection to the newborn for 6 months duration. Nirsevimab can be given when the infant has reached the age of 6 months old.

How is it given?

A single intramuscular injection into the thigh.

Dose depends on the baby’s weight:

– 50 mg for infants weighing <5 kg ; 100 mg for infants weighing ≥5 kg

How effective is it?

Clinical trials and real-world studies have shown that Beyfortus:

– Reduces the risk of RSV-related hospitalization by over 80%.

– Provides protection for approximately 6 months to a year, covering a typical RSV season.

Is it a vaccine? – No

– Vaccines stimulate the body’s immune system to produce its own antibodies.

– Beyfortus supplies pre-formed antibodies, giving immediate but temporary protection.

Important facts

– 9 out 10 children will be infected with RSV by their second birthday

– 93% of RSV hospitalizations occurred in healthy children

– On average, children hospitalized due to the RSV infection need 5.5 days hospital stay
