Apple Vision Pro Unveils New Immersive Content Featuring NBA Stars, The Weeknd, and More

Apple has announced a fresh lineup of immersive video content for its Vision Pro headset, offering viewers a 180-degree viewing experience.

This immersive content includes exclusive footage from the 2024 NBA All-Star Weekend and a captivating performance by The Weeknd, enriching the extensive library that debuted with the headset in February, which already includes over 150 3D movies and immersive titles.

Viewers can dive into “Boundless,” a new series that premiered at 9 PM ET on July 18 and offers adventures such as hot air ballooning over Cappadocia, Turkey, and witnessing surfers tackle waves in the Arctic Circle.

Apple teased a short film centered on the 2024 NBA All-Star Weekend in Indianapolis, featuring basketball legends Kevin Durant, Stephen Curry, and LeBron James. Set for release this fall, the film provides a courtside experience of events like the Rising Stars Challenge, the slam dunk contest, and the All-Star Game.

Later this year, Vision Pro users can enjoy an immersive concert by The Weeknd, adding to the artist-focused content available on the platform, which includes a rehearsal session with Alicia Keys.

Nature enthusiasts can look forward to the next installment of the “Wild Life” documentary series next month. Episode two, debuting in August, will showcase the Sheldrick Wildlife Trust in Kenya and its work with orphaned elephants, providing a deep dive into wildlife care.

The lineup continues with “Red Bull: Big-Wave Surfing,” a movie highlighting surfers attempting to ride the formidable waves of Teahupo’o, Tahiti, slated for later this year. Additionally, the short film “Submerged” will take viewers inside a World War II Navy submarine. “Submerged” is set to be released this fall.

Adding to the rich content offering, an aerial travel series titled “Elevated” will debut in September. This series will provide viewers with a unique perspective of various travel destinations from above.

Apple has committed to delivering more immersive content throughout the year and plans to empower filmmakers to create on Apple Immersive Video through its partnership with Blackmagic Design. This collaboration introduces a new Blackmagic camera and updates to DaVinci Resolve Studio and Apple Compressor, aiming to facilitate the creation of more immersive content for Vision Pro.
