Apple has released iOS 27.2 and iPadOS 27.2, introducing expanded language support and memory capabilities for Siri AI, Apple Pencil compatibility with the foldable iPhone Duo, and more than 160 security fixes. Released on October 26, the updates also bring improvements to FaceTime, Messages, Photos, Podcasts and Apple TV.
According to Apple’s release information, Siri AI now supports French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese and Spanish in beta, alongside English. The assistant can retain details from previous conversations to provide more personalized responses based on users’ earlier interactions.
Siri can also reference information from photos shared in Messages, calendar attendees, voicemails, Safari browsing history and reading lists. Users can control which applications contribute information to Siri’s memory, including excluding specific apps.
iPhone Duo Gains Apple Pencil and FaceTime Features
The update introduces Apple Pencil support for Apple’s foldable iPhone Duo, allowing users to write and annotate content in applications such as Notes and Preview. The addition follows reports of display-related problems affecting some early iPhone Duo buyers.
Apple has also introduced an Edge Light effect to improve facial illumination during video calls. FaceTime now supports Dual Capture, allowing simultaneous streaming from the front and rear cameras during group calls, alongside the option to include third-party sign language interpreters or live captioners.
Messages can now suggest converting conversations into reminders or calendar events. Shared Albums users can edit captions, add comments and receive notifications about album expiration dates, while Podcasts provides updated access to followed shows and episodes currently being played.
Apple TV’s Multiview feature is also available on iPhones, allowing users to watch up to four live sports streams simultaneously. Supported programming includes Major League Soccer, Formula 1 in the United States and Friday Night Baseball doubleheaders, with multiple camera feeds available during Formula 1 broadcasts.
Security Updates Address More Than 160 Vulnerabilities
Apple has documented more than 160 security fixes in its iOS 27.2 and iPadOS 27.2 security advisory, with several patches also provided for devices running older operating systems.
A separate iOS 18.7.11 security update addresses a CoreGraphics vulnerability tracked as CVE-2026-86950. Apple acknowledged reports that the vulnerability may have been exploited in highly sophisticated attacks against specific individuals using versions of iOS preceding iOS 27, without identifying those responsible.
The updates also cover vulnerabilities involving unauthorized camera access and potential exposure of sensitive information. According to Apple’s developer statistics, approximately 79% of iPhones were running iOS 26 as of June 7, 2026.
