Amazon has introduced more than 100 new shopping capabilities to Alexa for Shopping, allowing customers to manage subscriptions, create shopping lists, update delivery instructions, and resolve billing issues through conversations with its AI assistant. The update comes ahead of the holiday shopping season and is now available to Amazon customers across the United States.
According to Amazon’s official announcement on October 29, the new features allow users to complete shopping and account management tasks without navigating multiple pages. Customers can access Alexa for Shopping through the Amazon Shopping app or the desktop website.
Alexa Can Now Manage Shopping Lists, Subscriptions, and Deliveries
The updated assistant allows customers to create and manage shopping lists, holiday wish lists, and gift registries, including those for weddings and babies. Users can add, remove, or edit items, transfer products between lists, and ask Alexa to display what remains on a particular registry.
Customers can also manage their Subscribe & Save deliveries through conversational requests, including skipping an upcoming delivery, pausing a subscription, or changing its frequency. For example, users can ask Alexa to adjust a recurring product delivery from once a month to every three months.
Delivery management is another addition, allowing customers to update their delivery instructions, change addresses, or provide specific drop-off details. Alexa can also answer questions about Amazon Prime benefits, membership savings, and Audible subscription renewals.
The assistant can handle payment-related inquiries, including checking gift card balances, reviewing unrecognized charges, and tracking refunds. These capabilities allow customers to access account information and address billing questions through the same conversational interface.
Over 400 Million Customers Have Used Alexa for Shopping
Amazon reported that more than 400 million customers used Alexa for Shopping over the past 12 months. The number of customers using its agentic features, which can perform tasks on behalf of users, has increased more than eightfold since the beginning of 2026.
The company has introduced several AI shopping capabilities this year, including a shopping assistant integrated into its search experience and notifications for new product releases, restocks, and offers. Other existing functions include price tracking, product comparisons, personalized recommendations, and automated purchases when an item reaches a customer’s target price.
Amazon’s vice president of Conversational Shopping, Rajiv Mehta, said the company wants customers to manage more shopping activities through simple conversations. The latest update extends Alexa’s capabilities beyond product discovery and purchasing to include routine account management and post-purchase support.
