Salesforce has agreed to acquire Rune Technologies, a startup developing AI-powered military logistics software, for a reported $375 million in cash and stock. The acquisition will expand Salesforce’s Missionforce business, which serves US military and national security agencies, by adding technology that helps military personnel manage supplies and resources during field operations.
According to Salesforce’s official announcement on October 29, the agreement will integrate Rune’s frontline logistics capabilities with Missionforce’s existing enterprise systems. The $375 million purchase price was reported by Resilience Media, citing two sources familiar with the transaction, although Salesforce did not publicly disclose the financial terms.
Rune Technologies Develops AI Software for Military Logistics
Founded in 2024 by David Tuttle and Peter Goldsborough, Rune Technologies develops AI software that helps military units forecast supply requirements, allocate resources, and coordinate transportation. Its systems operate in environments with unreliable or unavailable network connectivity, allowing personnel to make logistics decisions without constant access to centralized infrastructure.
The company’s technology can also synchronize operational data with enterprise systems when connectivity returns. Salesforce said Rune’s software is already deployed with the US Army and Marine Corps, supporting logistics planning and resource management.
Rune has raised approximately $30 million from investors, including Andreessen Horowitz, Point72 Ventures, and IQT, a CIA-backed nonprofit venture investment firm. The startup was previously valued at $127 million following a Series A funding round led by Human Capital in 2025, according to PitchBook.
Salesforce Expands Missionforce Defense Business
Salesforce launched Missionforce in 2025 to provide software and AI capabilities for defense and national security organizations. The company reported that its defense business has grown 80% year over year, with customers across all six branches of the US military.
Missionforce also secured a 10-year US Army contract with a maximum value of $5.6 billion to support operational modernization. Integrating Rune’s technology will extend Missionforce beyond administrative planning and enterprise management to support logistics decisions made by personnel in the field.
Kendall Collins, president and CEO of Missionforce and Government Cloud at Salesforce, said Rune’s technology will connect frontline supply requirements with the systems used to manage equipment, personnel, and resources. The acquisition is expected to close in the fourth quarter of Salesforce’s fiscal 2027, subject to customary closing conditions.
Salesforce Continues Acquisitions of AI Software Companies
The Rune agreement follows several other Salesforce acquisitions and purchase agreements announced in 2026. The company acquired AI customer service platform Fin for $3.6 billion and Qualified for approximately $1.2 billion, while also agreeing to acquire customer research startup Listen Labs.
Listen Labs previously withdrew from a proposed $125 million Series C funding round at a $1.5 billion valuation before entering acquisition discussions with Salesforce. The financial terms of Salesforce’s agreement to acquire Listen Labs have not been disclosed.
