Project Advisory Group, an Australian project management, PMO, digital transformation and innovation consulting firm, has introduced AugmentAI, a solution designed to support technicians managing and resolving faults across critical infrastructure.

The announcement follows pilot work conducted in New Zealand in collaboration with UCG and Chorus, with the solution developed to address specialist knowledge gaps in field operations.
AugmentAI has been created to help technicians access technical guidance while working on infrastructure faults. The solution combines artificial intelligence, augmented reality headset support and remote expert access, allowing field teams to receive structured assistance during fault diagnosis and resolution.
“AugmentAI proved on real faults, with real technicians, in one of the world’s most demanding fibre environments,” said Matthews, Managing Partner at Project Advisory Group. “The task now is scale. Every operator of critical infrastructure is losing specialist knowledge faster than it can replace it, and AugmentAI turns that knowledge into a living, learning system that guides any technician through any fault and gets smarter every time.”
The pilot work was carried out in a fibre network environment, where technicians used the solution on real network faults. The process provided Project Advisory Group, UCG and Chorus with operational insight into how the technology could support field teams, reduce travel requirements and improve consistency in fault resolution.
“Unleashing potential through connectivity, enabling better futures for Aotearoa” AugmentAI hit the mark on several fronts as a network operator. We’ve found through the pilot process that enabling a more diversely skilled technician resource reduces travel time & distance and creates a more sustainable environment for those operating on & utilising our network to stay connected, minimising disruptions and reducing network downtime.
We can’t wait to uncover the next layer of benefits through our continued partnership with UCG and PAG,” shared Scotty Beecroft, Delivery Lead, Chorus.
UCG has worked with Project Advisory Group and Chorus on the development and pilot application of AugmentAI. The collaboration is now focused on moving the solution from proof of concept toward wider use across telecommunications and data centre environments.
Dillip, Co-CEO of UCG stated, “We see the expertise gap every day in the field. AugmentAI closes it. A technician wearing the headset has the collective experience of the whole organisation looking over their shoulder, and a remote expert one call away, seeing exactly what they see. Taking this from proof of concept to product across telecommunications and data centres is the natural next step.”
Project Advisory Group works across aviation, infrastructure, defence and transport, supporting organisations through project delivery, PMO services, digital transformation and innovation advisory. AugmentAI forms part of the firm’s Digital and Transformation Services and Innovation and AI Advisory work.
With AugmentAI, Project Advisory Group is positioning its innovation and AI advisory work around a clear operational need: helping infrastructure providers retain technical knowledge, support field teams and improve the way faults are resolved in critical environments.
