Facebook Launches Seller App, Free Verification and Full-Screen Video Test

Facebook is introducing a dedicated Marketplace seller app, a free identity verification badge and an optional full-screen video interface. The updates are designed to simplify selling, increase trust between users and encourage more activity across the platform.

Facebook Marketplace receives more than 430 million new listings each month and has over 1.1 billion active users. Meta said one in three young adults who use Facebook in the United States visits Marketplace daily.

Seller App Adds Dedicated Marketplace Tools

The new Seller app gives frequent Marketplace sellers a separate place to manage listings, communicate with buyers and review item performance. It also includes inventory management, a unified inbox and options to promote listings.

Meta said in its official announcement that AI tools will help sellers create product listings. The system can generate titles, descriptions and pricing suggestions from uploaded photos.

The app will also help users respond to common buyer questions and identify items that may sell well. Meta has not said whether every Marketplace seller will receive immediate access.

Free Badge Confirms a Real Person

Facebook Verified is a new, free badge for users who complete a selfie-based identity check and meet Meta’s safety requirements. It is separate from Meta Verified, the paid subscription that provides a blue badge and other account features.

The free badge appears as a check mark inside a white circle. It can be displayed across Marketplace, Facebook Dating, Groups and a user’s main profile.

Meta said in its Facebook Verified announcement that the badge is intended to show that a real person is behind an account. The company will begin introducing it on July 27.

Full-Screen Video Interface Enters Testing

Facebook is also testing an optional interface that opens directly into a full-screen video feed. Users who prefer the traditional Facebook layout can disable the experience and return to the standard feed.

The test will begin in international markets where users frequently watch videos. Meta plans to introduce it in the United States in 2027.

Facebook is also developing AI tools that can search Groups and provide answers based on earlier discussions. The features follow other standalone Meta apps, including Forum for Facebook Groups and Pocket for building software through written instructions.
