Express Sunrooms of the Carolinas announced that its Charlotte, North Carolina, and York County, South Carolina, franchise operations will combine under one regional organization beginning August 1, 2026.
The combined operation will serve homeowners throughout the greater Charlotte area, York County and surrounding communities in North and South Carolina. David and Amanda Canupp, owners of the Charlotte franchise, will work with Todd Ackerman, owner of the York County franchise, to coordinate operations and expand the company’s regional service coverage.
Express Sunrooms was founded in Charleston, South Carolina, in 1995. The franchise provides residential outdoor-living construction services, including sunrooms, retractable awnings, retractable screens, enclosed porches and patios, screened porches, adjustable patio covers and pool enclosures.
David Canupp established the Charlotte franchise in 2020, serving homeowners across Charlotte and nearby communities. Ackerman has operated the York County franchise since 2014, building the company’s presence in communities across northern South Carolina.
The owners decided to combine the two operations after identifying continued overlap between their service areas. The new structure is intended to improve coordination, expand regional coverage and provide customers across both states with access to the companies shared resources and outdoor-living services.
Under the Express Sunrooms of the Carolinas name, the combined organization will continue supporting residential projects across North Carolina and South Carolina. The owners will coordinate customer service, project planning and installation services while maintaining the franchise’s established product and construction offerings.
The regional expansion is expected to help the company respond to customer enquiries across a broader geographic area. It will also allow the Charlotte and York County teams to collaborate on projects that extend across their previous service boundaries.
Express Sunrooms of the Carolinas will begin operating under the combined regional structure on August 1, 2026.
