Snapchat+ Users Get Personalized Homes on Snap Map, Pets in Chat, Quick Snaps and More

Snapchat announced on Tuesday, July 2nd, the launch of several new features designed to elevate user personalization on its platform.

These new features, primarily available to Snapchat+ subscribers, are crafted to provide unique customization options that distinguish the platform from its competitors, encouraging more users to opt for its paid service. Snapchat+ currently boasts a subscriber base of 9 million users.

The New Updates

One of the key features for Snapchat+ subscribers is the ability to design a personalized house on Snap Map. This feature lets users create a house that mirrors their style, visible to friends with whom they share their location. Users have a variety of customization options, including different styles and colors. They can opt for a realistic appearance or choose more fanciful designs like whimsical castles, demonstrating Snapchat’s push for creativity in user interactions.

Additionally, the update now allows subscribers to include their pets alongside their Bitmoji in chat interactions. Previously, pets were only visible on Snap Map, but now they can accompany Bitmojis across the app, adding a personal touch to communications.

Another significant update for Snapchat+ users is the introduction of lightning-quick Snaps. This feature allows subscribers to send or post Snaps that last for extremely short durations of 0.10, 0.20, and 0.50 seconds. By doing so, Snapchat continues to emphasize its core concept of quick, bite-sized content, now pushing it to even more ephemeral extents.

For standard users, Snapchat has rolled out a new “live mirror” feature within its Bitmoji Builder interface. This innovative tool simplifies the process of creating Bitmojis by using the camera’s viewfinder to automatically generate avatars that closely resemble the user.

Lastly, Snapchat highlighted its ongoing development of AI-powered Lenses, such as a Lens that allows users to see themselves as they appeared five years ago. This nostalgic feature adds another layer of personalization by letting users revisit their past appearances through advanced technology.

These new features not only aim to enhance the user experience by offering more personalization options but also seek to differentiate Snapchat from other platforms in the competitive social media landscape. By continually introducing innovative and user-friendly features, Snapchat aims to maintain its relevance and appeal among a diverse user base.
