Amazon has launched Alexa+ in India, bringing its upgraded conversational AI assistant to users in both Hindi and English. The assistant is now available in Early Access and can maintain context across longer conversations while handling more complex requests.
The company said Alexa+ features a more natural and expressive voice, allowing users to switch seamlessly between Hindi and English within the same conversation. The rollout is part of Amazon’s broader effort to expand adoption of its generative AI-powered assistant in international markets.
Pricing And Availability
Alexa+ is currently available to customers in India through an Early Access program. Once testing concludes, the service will be included at no additional cost for Amazon Prime subscribers.
Non-Prime users will be charged ₹2,000 per month for access to the assistant. Amazon has not announced when the Early Access phase will end.
Integration With Indian Services
Amazon said Alexa+ can complete multi-step tasks such as ordering groceries through Amazon Now and controlling compatible smart home devices.
The assistant is also integrated with several India-focused services, including food delivery platform Swiggy, ticket booking service District by Zomato, travel platforms Tripadvisor and MakeMyTrip, and restaurant reservation app EazyDiner.
Music streaming support includes Amazon Music and JioSaavn, allowing users to interact with entertainment services through voice commands.
Amazon’s Push Into India’s Hindi-Speaking Market
India is a key market for Amazon’s voice assistant business, particularly given the country’s large Hindi-speaking population. Amazon introduced Alexa in India in 2017 and added Hindi language support in 2019.
According to the company, its smart home device business in India has grown by 20% year-over-year, though it did not disclose specific user numbers. With more than 600 million Hindi speakers in the country, Amazon is aiming to broaden adoption through localized AI features and multilingual support.
Part Of Amazon’s Global Alexa+ Expansion
Amazon first unveiled Alexa+ in 2025 as its next-generation AI assistant. The company later expanded availability across the United States before rolling it out to other markets including the U.K., Canada, Brazil, Mexico, Italy, and Germany.
The India launch marks another step in Amazon’s global effort to position Alexa+ as a more capable AI assistant that can manage conversations, complete tasks, and integrate with a growing ecosystem of services.
