Matiks Raises $10 Million to Expand Math and Puzzle Gaming Platform

Indian gaming startup Matiks has raised $10 million in pre-Series A funding led by General Catalyst to expand its math, logic and puzzle gaming platform into international markets. The investment, announced on October 26, 2026, follows rapid user growth, with the company reporting more than 300,000 daily active users and 2.2 million monthly active users in September.

Indian entrepreneur Ronnie Screwvala participated in the funding round alongside existing investors Info Edge Ventures, Tanglin Venture Partners and Untitled Ventures. The latest investment brings Matiks’ total funding to more than $13.5 million.

Matiks Records Rapid Growth in Daily Users

Founded in 2024 by college friends Sudhanshu Bhatia, Mohan Kumar and Sushant Timmapur, Matiks offers competitive brain games designed around mathematics, memory, logic and puzzles. The platform allows users to practice against computer-controlled opponents before competing against other players in real-time challenges.

Players can also complete quests, earn points, maintain daily streaks and access additional games through continued participation. According to the company, daily active users increased from approximately 22,000 earlier in 2026 to more than 300,000 by September, when users played 48 million games.

Bhatia, who previously worked on anti-money laundering strategy at American Express, developed the concept based on his experience with competitive mental mathematics. He told TechCrunch that the founders wanted to make cognitive challenges as entertaining as conventional competitive games.

Startup Introduces Subscriptions and AI Game Creation

Matiks began testing a subscription service in October, offering additional game analysis, practice features and gameplay advice. The company also supports in-app purchases that allow users to skip challenges, preserve streaks and increase experience points.

Alongside its existing games, Matiks has introduced Jelo, an experimental AI-powered platform that allows users to create games for others to play. The feature places Matiks alongside companies developing AI-assisted game creation tools, including Google’s Playground.

The startup has also developed additional gameplay formats, including single-player puzzles and social challenges, to encourage longer sessions. General Catalyst partner Rahul Humayun said user engagement and the company’s pace of product development contributed to the investment decision.

Matiks Plans International Expansion

Most Matiks users are currently based in India, although the company has reported growing activity in the United States, South Korea and Japan. Matiks plans to introduce localized experiences for Asian markets while prioritizing broader international expansion.

The company, which employs 41 full-time staff, intends to use the new capital to expand its gaming platform, develop Jelo and strengthen its international presence. According to its funding announcement, additional investment will support engineering, AI development, game design and user growth.
