Neko Health to Open First U.S. Body-Scanning Clinic in Manhattan on September 24

Neko Health will open its first U.S. location on September 24 at 300 Lafayette Street in SoHo, Manhattan. The health-scanning startup says more than 25,000 New Yorkers have already joined its waitlist ahead of the launch.

Neko was founded by Spotify co-founder and CEO Daniel Ek and Hjalmar Nilsonne, who serves as Neko’s CEO. The company currently operates in Sweden and the U.K. and is expanding into the U.S. after raising a $700 million Series C in July.

Neko Combines Body Scans With Bloodwork and Wearable Data

Neko has developed proprietary body-scanning technology that it combines with blood tests and information from fitness devices to assess a person’s health. The company said last month that 100,000 people had already completed scans across its existing locations.

The startup has positioned its service around preventive health assessments, using multiple data sources in a single visit. Its U.S. website is now promoting the Manhattan location ahead of the September opening.

Neko’s latest funding round provided additional capital for its international expansion. The company has not disclosed how many U.S. locations it ultimately plans to open.

Other Tech-Backed Companies Are Expanding Into Health Scanning

Neko is entering a market that includes several other health assessment companies backed by technology founders and venture investors. Midjourney, best known for its AI image and video tools, is developing its own body scanner and plans to incorporate it into a spa experience in San Francisco in 2027.

Fountain Life, founded by Tony Robbins and Peter Diamandis, also offers scans and health assessments focused on longevity. Function Health, co-founded by Dr. Mark Hyman, provides blood testing and added body scanning after acquiring medical imaging startup Ezra.

Function recently secured $450 million in financing from General Catalyst’s Customer Value Fund. Under that financing model, companies repay the capital through profit-sharing arrangements rather than using a conventional equity investment structure.

Neko’s September opening will bring its scanning service to the U.S. for the first time. The Manhattan site will serve customers from its existing waitlist as the company begins operations outside Europe.
