Several major venture capital firms have disclosed plans to raise billions of dollars through new investment funds in October 2026, according to filings with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). The fundraising activity includes a $1.25 billion AI-focused fund from former Benchmark investors Victor Lazarte and Kris Fredrickson, alongside new vehicles from Trust Ventures, 8VC, Greenoaks and Industry Ventures.
The filings show substantial investor commitments to established venture capital managers and specialized investment strategies, particularly artificial intelligence, deep technology and secondary share transactions. Some funds have already secured capital, while others remain in the fundraising process.
Diffusion ONE Raises $1.25 Billion for AI Investments
Former Benchmark partners Victor Lazarte and Kris Fredrickson have raised $1.252 billion for Diffusion ONE, exceeding their initial $800 million target reported in May. The firm has already participated in several major financing rounds, including co-leading legal AI company Harvey’s $550 million Series H alongside Lightspeed Venture Partners and investing in semiconductor startup Etched’s $300 million Series C.
Austin-based Trust Ventures, founded by Salen Churi in 2017, has filed to raise $400 million for its fifth fund. The firm focuses on startups operating in highly regulated industries and previously received backing from Koch Disruptive Technologies.
Deep technology investment firm Interlagos Capital is also seeking $400 million for its second fund. Trust Ventures previously targeted $225 million for its fourth fund, although its final fundraising status remains unclear.
Benchmark and 8VC File for Additional Investment Funds
Benchmark has filed to raise four partner-focused funds totaling $364 million, comprising vehicles targeting $220 million, $132 million, $7.5 million and $4.5 million. Jack Altman, who joined Benchmark as a general partner earlier in 2026, is listed in all four SEC filings.
Joe Lonsdale’s 8VC has also filed for several investment vehicles, including the $400 million 8VC DSS III, a $30.35 million fund and a $20.35 million fund. Another vehicle, 8VC AI Fund XI, has already raised $13.5 million, following the firm’s reported $1.5 billion fundraising for Fund VII in July.
Greenoaks and Industry Ventures Pursue New Funds
Notable Capital, an investor in Anthropic, Airbnb and Square, has filed to raise its fifth fund, while Greenoaks has submitted paperwork for a vehicle named Greenoaks 7. Greenoaks previously co-led Anthropic’s $65 billion Series H financing and has also invested in financial technology company Ramp.
Meanwhile, Industry Ventures has raised at least $1.7 billion for a secondary investment fund that opened in late July. Secondary transactions allow investors to purchase existing shares in privately held companies before those businesses complete public offerings or other liquidity events.
The fundraising comes amid substantial investor interest in private AI companies, including OpenAI and Anthropic. PitchBook senior venture capital analyst Emily Zheng identified stakes in both companies as among the most heavily contested investments in the venture secondary market.
