Granola has launched an Apple Watch app that lets users record and transcribe in-person meetings without taking out their phones. The AI note-taking company expects the wearable app to be particularly useful during walking meetings, conferences and spontaneous conversations.
Users can add Granola as an Apple Watch complication, allowing them to start recording directly from the watch face. The app can also display reminders about upcoming meetings and synchronise recordings with Granola’s iPhone app.
Watch App Targets In-Person Conversations
Granola co-founder Chris Pedregal said the app was designed to make capturing face-to-face meetings less intrusive. Taking out a phone and placing it on a table can change the nature of a conversation, while a watch allows recording to begin with less disruption.
During internal testing, employees with Apple Watches shifted a substantial share of their mobile Granola usage from the iPhone app to the watch. The company did not disclose detailed usage figures from the trial.
Recordings captured on the watch are processed through Granola’s existing note-taking system. The service creates transcripts and summaries containing highlights, decisions and action items.
Granola introduced its iOS app in April 2025 to support phone calls, coffee meetings and other conversations away from a computer. Its App Store listing says users can begin transcribing by opening the app and tapping the recording control.
Smartwatches Compete With Dedicated Recording Devices
Several companies have introduced wearable or pocket-sized devices that record conversations and send them to companion apps for transcription. Granola considered integrating with separate hardware but decided that developing an Apple Watch app would be simpler for users who already owned the device.
The approach also avoids requiring customers to charge, carry or purchase another recorder. Granola has not announced an equivalent app for Wear OS smartwatches.
Other dictation and meeting-note services have also expanded to Apple Watch as developers look for ways to capture conversations without relying on a phone or laptop.
Granola Reached a $1.5 Billion Valuation
The wearable launch follows Granola’s $125 million Series C round, announced in March 2026. Index Ventures led the financing, with participation from Kleiner Perkins and existing investors Lightspeed, Spark Capital and NFDG.
The round valued Granola at $1.5 billion, giving the London-based company unicorn status. Granola said it would use the funding to expand beyond individual meeting notes and help organisations search and analyse knowledge collected across workplace conversations.
