MEGA LED Technology, a U.S. provider of custom LED signs and digital signage solutions, has released a report to help churches, businesses, and community organizations think more strategically about where digital signs are placed.
The report responds to a common signage mistake: treating digital sign placement as a simple installation decision rather than a visibility and audience decision. For churches and other public-facing organizations, the question is not only whether to install a digital sign. The bigger question is where that sign will create the most visibility, attention, and action.
“Digital sign placement matters in the same way storefront location matters,” said David Park, CEO at MEGA LED Technology. “A great sign in the wrong place can miss the people it was meant to reach. Churches, schools, and businesses need to think about audience flow, road visibility, entrances, decision points, and how people actually move around their property.”
The report is based on academic research into digital signage location recommendations. In one study, researchers analyzed 5,823 outdoor digital signage locations and combined them with economic census data, population census data, average house prices, social network check-in data, and traffic network centrality to recommend better digital signage locations.
The research treats digital signage placement as a data-led location problem, not just a design or hardware issue. It also notes that traditional digital signage site selection can be artificial, low in timeliness, lacking reference, and ineffective, supporting the need for a more strategic approach to screen placement.
The Screen Real Estate Report ranks the factors that can make a digital sign location more valuable, including audience density, commercial activity, traffic centrality, social activity, decision proximity, tourist or visitor activity, business district presence, transit proximity, nearby competition, and low wasted exposure.
For churches, those same principles can apply to entrances, roadside frontage, parking lots, gathering areas, service-time traffic, school or ministry buildings, and community-facing message points. A church sign that is easy to see from the road, positioned before visitors make a turn, and placed where members and first-time guests naturally pass can be more useful than a sign placed only where space is available.
“Church signs are not just decoration” added Jacob Johnson, a marketing executive at MEGA LED Technology. “They help people see service times, events, welcome messages, ministry announcements, and community updates. The best location is where the message meets people at the right moment.”
