Two Free Tools for the Paperwork Nobody Warned You About

Nobody starts a company in Taiwan because they love filling out invoices. But sooner or later, that’s where a surprising chunk of your week goes: checking whether 5% tax on NT$10,476 rounds up or down, or figuring out what form your accountant needs when a customer sends something back.

None of this is difficult. It’s just fiddly, and fiddly is where mistakes happen. A one-dollar error on an invoice can mean voiding it, reissuing it, and explaining the whole thing at filing time.

We built two small tools to take these jobs off your plate.

Tool 1: Get Your Invoice Numbers Right the First Time

Taiwan’s Government Uniform Invoice (統一發票) has one classic trap: is the price you quoted tax-inclusive or tax-exclusive? Get it wrong, or round the tax the wrong way, and the sales amount, tax, and total won’t reconcile.

The Tax Invoice Generator (開發票工具) handles the math for you. Enter either the total you’re charging or the pre-tax unit price, and it splits out the sales amount and the 5% VAT correctly. Copy the figures onto your paper invoice or into your quote, and you’re done.

Tool 2: Deal With Returns Without the Headache

Customers return goods. Prices get renegotiated after the fact. If the change happens in the same filing period, you can usually just void the invoice and issue a new one. Once the period has passed, though, you’ll need a Sales Return and Allowance form (銷貨退回或折讓證明單) instead.

Most business owners have never seen one, let alone filled one out. The Allowance Form Generator (折讓單工具) walks you through it. Enter the original invoice details and the adjusted amount, and it produces a properly formatted form you can send straight to your accountant.

Why It Matters

Small admin errors rarely cause disasters. What they do is pile up: an extra email to your accountant here, a reissued invoice there, a question from the tax office at the worst possible time.

Save both links somewhere handy. The next time you’re issuing an invoice or handling a return, let the tool do the checking, and keep your attention on the parts of the business only you can do.
