Minairal (MINAIRAL CO., LTD.), a Thai company that designs, installs and services on-site drinking water systems, has passed 700 installations across Thailand. Its machines produce mineralized drinking water from the air or from tap water directly in hotels, resorts, offices, schools, restaurants, villas and homes, replacing deliveries of 19-litre jugs and single-use plastic bottles.
Minairal operates four stores in Thailand: Koh Samui (Bo Phut), Koh Phangan (Thong Sala), Phuket (Chalong) and Hua Hin. Three service centres keep machines and spare parts in stock. Technicians are based in eight cities: Koh Samui, Koh Phangan, Phuket, Hua Hin, Krabi, Bangkok, Chiang Mai and Pattaya. The average response time to a service request is four hours.
The company sells two ranges of machines. The Air range is an atmospheric water generator, also known as an air-to-water machine: it draws humidity from the air, condenses it, filters the water and adds calcium, magnesium, potassium and sodium. It needs no plumbing, only a power outlet, and comes in three models: Air Top, Air Stand and Air Stand Pro. The Pure range is a reverse osmosis water dispenser that connects to the existing water line, purifies the water, remineralises it and serves it hot or cold.
Many hotels, offices and households in Thailand buy their drinking water in 19-litre jugs or bottles, which means scheduled deliveries, storage space and a steady flow of plastic waste. A drinking water system for hotels and offices produces the water where it is consumed, so there is nothing to deliver, store or throw away.
A sustainable choice for hotels
For hotels and resorts, producing drinking water on site removes single-use bottles from rooms, restaurants and bars. Guests can be served in reusable 500 ml glass bottles that can carry the hotel’s logo. One Air Stand Pro producing its average of 22 litres a day replaces about 16,000 half-litre plastic bottles a year, and up to 20,000 at its maximum output of 30 litres a day.
The Air range also protects natural resources: because it makes water from the humidity in the air, it draws nothing from wells, aquifers or the mains. On Thai islands that depend on limited reservoirs and groundwater, every litre made from the air is a litre that does not have to be pumped from the ground or shipped in.
“Drinking water should not depend on a delivery truck,” said Nicolas Guy, Founder and CEO of Minairal. “We built the service network before scaling sales: stores, spare parts in stock and technicians close to our customers. That is what makes a hotel or an office comfortable switching from bottles to a machine.”
Customers can buy a system with a one-year warranty, or rent or lease it on a three, five or seven-year contract that covers maintenance and filter changes for the whole term. Hotels, offices and homes in Phuket, Koh Samui, Koh Phangan and Hua Hin can request a free one-week trial before deciding.
