Samsung Electronics and representatives of its largest workers’ union in South Korea, currently on strike, met on Tuesday, but the talks ended without results, according to the union.
Ongoing Strike Over Pay and Benefits
The union has been on an indefinite strike since earlier this month, protesting over pay and benefits.

Detail | Information |
---|---|
Strike Duration | Indefinite since early July |
Union Membership | Approximately 30,000 members |
Union’s Share of Samsung’s Workforce | Nearly 25% of South Korean employees |

Lee Hyun-kuk, vice president of the National Samsung Electronics Union, stated on a YouTube live broadcast that the gap between the two sides is too wide to reach any agreement.
Union officials have called on Samsung to bring a fresh offer to the negotiating table by July 29 and plan to hold ultimate talks with the company through July 31.
Analysts warn that a prolonged strike by key personnel could add to Samsung’s challenges. The company is already facing intense competition in the semiconductor market, particularly for chips used in artificial intelligence.
