Shaping the Future of Sports Awards
Legend has been instrumental in this transformation, designing and distributing these digital trophies, thereby revolutionizing the SportFi sector. These digital assets, minted on the Polygon network, have a minimal carbon footprint of just 0.4g CO2e, compared to the 708.18kg CO2e required to produce a traditional gold medal.
By adopting digital awards, the WBSC and other major federations could reduce their total carbon footprint from 4,000t CO2e to a mere 0.5t CO2e for each event, significantly lowering environmental impact.
Empowering Athletes and Fans
Athletes now have the opportunity to create public galleries in the Legend Museum to showcase their achievements. Additionally, they have the option to list and sell their digital trophies on the Legend platform.
Thanks to Polygon PoS, Legend and WBSC can offer fans and users an enhanced experience with fast transactions and near-zero gas fees, fostering a deeper and more exclusive fan-athlete relationship.
A Greener Future for Sports
The WBSC initiated this practice in 2022 and is committed to increasing the production of virtual trophies and prizes in the coming years, with the vision of completely replacing physical awards in the future.
