Gudea Raises $7 Million to Predict Online Misinformation and Reputation Risks With AI

vAI-powered narrative intelligence startup Gudea has raised $7 million in seed funding to expand its platform for detecting and tracking online conversations before they develop into major public controversies. The company uses artificial intelligence to analyze how misinformation, rumors, and coordinated campaigns spread across social media and other websites, helping organizations identify emerging threats to their reputations.

The funding round, announced on October 9, 2026, was co-led by Mudita Ventures and Collide Capital, bringing Gudea’s total funding to approximately $15 million. The company also presented its technology at TechCrunch Disrupt 2026 in San Francisco on October 14.

How Gudea Uses AI to Track Online Narratives

Unlike conventional social listening platforms that measure mentions, hashtags, and impressions, Gudea’s platform examines the accounts driving conversations, the relationships between them, and how information spreads between online communities. Its AI monitors nearly 500 mainstream and smaller online platforms, including X, Reddit, and TikTok.

The system analyzes posting behavior and information-sharing patterns to identify coordinated activity and assess whether a conversation is likely to gain momentum. It also provides alerts and visualizations that help organizations understand where narratives originate, how quickly they are spreading, and which accounts are amplifying them.

CEO and co-founder Keith Presley said traditional monitoring tools often provide insufficient context for communications teams responding to online controversies. Gudea aims to give organizations earlier warnings and more detailed information about developing conversations so they can determine whether intervention is necessary.

Gudea Serves Nearly 40 Enterprise and Government Clients

Founded in 2023 by Presley, Jonathan Sperber, and James Thomin, Gudea developed from work associated with the George Washington Initiative, a nonprofit established after the 2020 US election. The initiative investigated how coordinated information campaigns spread through online networks and influenced wider discussions.

Presley previously worked in political campaigns and defense, while Sperber has experience researching disinformation and online influence operations. Thomin, the company’s chief technology officer, holds a doctorate in chemical engineering and has approximately two decades of experience in AI and machine learning.

Gudea currently serves nearly 40 customers, including major telecommunications and retail companies, an AI research organization, entertainment businesses, public relations agencies, and government bodies. Presley said generative AI has made it easier for individuals and smaller groups to produce large volumes of content and coordinate online campaigns.

New Funding Supports Predictive AI Development

Gudea plans to use its latest investment to expand its data coverage, develop predictive capabilities, and reach more enterprise customers. One planned feature would identify the geographic origins of online conversations with greater precision, potentially down to individual city blocks.

The company is also developing tools that could allow customers to assess proposed advertising campaigns before publication and identify potential negative reactions. These capabilities remain under development, with the geographic monitoring feature targeted for 2027.
