The Unicode Consortium, the nonprofit body that decides which emojis appear across devices, has confirmed its next batch of additions. These emojis will arrive on smartphones and other platforms over the coming year.
What’s Coming to Your Keyboard
The new lineup includes a trombone, a treasure chest, a bulging-eyes face, a fight cloud, an apple core, an orca whale, a gender-neutral ballet dancer, a landslide, and Bigfoot.
Unicode ensures that no matter which device you use, emojis look consistent across platforms. This is why a flamenco dancer sent from an iPhone can be recognized just as easily on an Android device.
Alongside these quirky new symbols, the update expands support for multiple skin tone options in emojis that feature more than one person. These include popular ones like the people with bunny ears dancing and the wrestling emoji.
Author’s Opinion
Every new emoji release may seem playful, but it also mirrors the way culture evolves. Emojis like Bigfoot or a fight cloud show how digital communication adapts to humor and folklore, while skin tone expansions reflect ongoing efforts to make online expression more inclusive. The fact that millions care about these updates highlights how central emojis have become to everyday communication.
