Govee has introduced a $499.99 smart countertop appliance designed for people who prefer soft, chewable nugget ice in coffee, soft drinks and other beverages. The GoveeLife Smart Nugget Ice Maker Pro can begin producing ice within six minutes and generate up to 60 pounds per day, according to the company.
The machine combines high-capacity ice production with app controls, voice commands and customisable lighting. Testing by TechCrunch found that it met Govee’s six-minute production claim and produced nugget ice that melted more slowly than standard refrigerator ice.
App Controls Allow Scheduled Ice Production
Users can operate the ice maker through its built-in screen or the Govee Home app. The app can start production remotely, schedule ice for a specific time and display the amount currently stored in the basket.
The machine also supports voice commands through Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. These controls allow users to begin production without operating the appliance directly.
Its basket holds up to 3.5 pounds of ice and automatically replenishes the supply as ice is removed. The system is intended for regular use at home and for occasions when larger quantities are needed.
NoiseGuard System Manages Operating Sound
Govee says the appliance operates at approximately 40 decibels using its AI NoiseGuard system. The technology monitors operating conditions and can activate defrosting cycles to manage noise and maintain production.
The unit produces a steady sound while running, although the TechCrunch reviewer did not consider it disruptive. Its integrated light illuminates the ice basket, with brightness, colours and preset effects controlled through the app.
Govee announced the appliance during CES 2026, describing it as a low-maintenance model powered by a 96-watt compressor, a DC motor and an enlarged condenser. The company’s official announcement said these components support faster production while limiting operating noise.
Large Design Requires Substantial Counter Space
The Smart Nugget Ice Maker Pro measures approximately 13.98 inches wide and 17.01 inches tall, with a depth of more than 17 inches. Its size and weight make it less suitable for kitchens with limited counter space.
Setup requires users to fill the water tank and start production through the display or app. However, moving the appliance for cleaning and descaling may be difficult because of its size.
The $500 price also places it in the premium countertop appliance category. It is intended primarily for frequent consumers of iced drinks who value nugget texture, faster production and connected controls.
The full TechCrunch review found that the machine produced enough ice for gatherings and delivered faster results than a refrigerator ice maker. Its usefulness ultimately depends on how frequently a household consumes nugget ice and whether the connected features justify the cost.
