Gig workers can now collect prepaid items from local stores for delivery to customers in Delhi-NCR

New Delhi, India – February 21, 2024: Uber has discreetly initiated testing for a new feature, dubbed “Store Pickup,” allowing gig workers to retrieve prepaid items from nearby stores for delivery to customers in India. Initially launched in select U.S. cities in December, this innovative service has now been extended to Delhi-NCR, exclusively learned.

Competition in the Market

Uber’s Store Pickup enters a competitive arena, facing off against established Indian platforms like Dunzo, Rapido, and Swiggy, which offer similar services for local pickups and deliveries. Despite the competition, Uber’s entry presents consumers with another option, signaling the company’s recognition of the burgeoning delivery market potential in India.

Uber declined to comment on its latest venture into the Indian market.
