Disney and Warner Bros. Launch New Streaming Bundle, Starting at $16.99/Month

Disney and Warner Bros. Discovery have launched a new streaming bundle in the United States, combining Disney+, Hulu, and Max services.

Starting Thursday, July 25, the bundle is available at two price points:

  • Ad-Supported Tier: $16.99 per month. This option offers a savings of nearly 35% compared to paying $25.97 for each service separately.
  • Ad-Free Tier: $29.99 per month. Subscribers save 38%, with the cost otherwise being $47.97 if each service were purchased individually.

This bundle, announced in May, aims to address the issue of “streaming fatigue” that consumers face due to the proliferation of individual streaming services.

As more viewers shift away from traditional cable packages—a trend known as cord-cutting—media companies like Disney and Warner Bros. Discovery are offering bundled services to provide a more cost-effective and convenient option for accessing diverse content.

The bundle includes a range of offerings from Disney’s popular franchises such as Star Wars and Marvel’s Avengers, along with Warner Bros’ content from HBO, Food Network, Discovery, and other channels. Additionally, Disney+ and Hulu are accessible through a single app, streamlining the user experience.

In related news, Comcast recently introduced a streaming bundle for its Xfinity customers, combining Netflix, Peacock, and Apple TV+ for $15 per month. This follows the trend of offering bundled services to appeal to consumers who may be overwhelmed by the number of separate subscriptions required to access various content.

Furthermore, Disney-owned ESPN is planning to launch a live sports streaming service in partnership with Warner Bros. Discovery and Fox later this year. This initiative indicates a growing trend toward larger streaming bundles, aimed at reducing cancellation rates and making it easier for consumers to access a wide range of content.

While some, like Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav, see bundling as a practical solution to the challenges of the streaming market, others, such as Netflix, remain skeptical about its benefits, especially for dominant platforms.
