Amazon Integrates Amazon Clinic into One Medical Brand

Amazon has announced that it is integrating its Amazon Clinic telehealth service into its primary care business, One Medical.

This rebranding effort aims to streamline Amazon’s primary care offerings for customers, now named Amazon One Medical Pay-per-visit. The service offers affordable per-visit pricing: $49 for a video call visit or $29 for a text message consultation with a doctor.

This consolidation reflects Amazon’s ongoing commitment to its healthcare strategy, positioning itself against emerging health tech startups like Carbon Health, Galileo, and Summer Health. Amazon’s move could potentially impact these startups, especially in the virtual care space.

Telehealth and Membership Options

Under the One Medical brand, Amazon now provides two primary options for customers: a telehealth service for over 30 common conditions and a paid membership for more extensive care. Conditions covered by the telehealth service include acne, eczema, the flu, pink eye, seasonal allergies, and sinus infections.

The membership, priced at $9 per month or $99 per year for Prime members (and $199 per year for non-Prime members), offers on-demand virtual care and next-day in-person appointments at over 150 One Medical offices across the U.S.

Convenient Care Options without Insurance

The pay-per-visit service is designed for customers without nearby access to a physical One Medical office or those who already have a primary care provider but need quick, accessible care for specific conditions. This service does not require insurance, and payments via FSA/HSA are accepted.

Amazon has significantly increased its investment in healthcare, highlighted by the nearly $4 billion acquisition of One Medical. Amazon Clinic, launched in 2022, served as a virtual health storefront for one-time telehealth services. However, Amazon had also shut down its employee-focused virtual primary care business, Amazon Care, the same year.

In contrast, other major companies are retreating from the healthcare space. For instance, Walmart shut down its health center and virtual care service in April.
