Fortnite and Rocket League players will soon have the opportunity to drive the Tesla Cybertruck. Epic Games, the publisher of both titles, announced via social media that the electric truck will be available starting July 23.
A newly released Fortnite trailer shows the Cybertruck towing another truck using a metal chain, highlighting its claimed 11,000-pound towing capacity. This dramatic depiction aligns with Tesla’s promotional materials, although such actions would likely void the real vehicle’s warranty.
Epic Games has not confirmed whether the Cybertruck will be purchasable content, but past vehicles in Fortnite have cost up to 4,000 V-bucks, equivalent to about $32.
Not all reactions to the announcement have been positive. A user on X suggested that the Cybertruck should rust and lose health over time during matches. One user on the Rocket League post remarked, “Not a single person asked for this.” However, another user then replied with a screenshot showing a list of individuals who welcome Cybertruck on Fortnite.
The Cybertruck has been a subject of controversy since its deliveries began late last year. The vehicle has faced recalls and criticism for its design and metal finish, which has shown susceptibility to rusting and spotting. Despite these issues, the $100,000 vehicle is gaining popularity, competing with rivals like the Ford F-150 Lightning.
Fortnite players can currently explore the Battle Royale update “Cursed Sails,” themed to Pirates of the Caribbean, adding to the variety of content available in the game.
