Google Adds Interactive Study Tools, Quizzes, and 3D Simulations to Search and Gemini

Google has added a new set of study tools across Search and Gemini, including AI-generated interactive visuals, customized quizzes, file-based study documents, and 3D simulations. The company is also bringing more of its learning features into a dedicated Gemini study hub as it expands AI tools aimed at students.

On Search, students can now generate interactive learning experiences for complex topics. A search for something such as a pH scale can produce an interactive visual inside an AI Overview, while a more specific follow-up in AI Mode can generate a customized experience, such as plotting different citrus fruits on the scale.

Search Can Generate Quizzes and Study Materials

Students can now ask Search to create personalized practice quizzes across subjects including science, math, humanities, and foreign languages. A prompt requesting frequently tested SAT vocabulary, for example, can generate an interactive quiz directly in Search.

Google is also adding the ability to create study documents from uploaded materials such as PDFs, documents, slides, handwritten notes, and photos. Students could combine lecture slides with their own notes and ask Search to produce a one-page outline of the main concepts.

In the coming weeks, Google Lens will add an interactive learning experience that lets students photograph or upload a problem through the Google app. The system can then explain the underlying concept, identify possible mistakes, and provide guidance when the student is stuck.

Gemini Adds Research Conversations and 3D Simulations

Gemini is gaining support for multi-step research tasks that students can start and leave running while doing something else. When the report is ready, Gemini can notify the user, who can then discuss the findings or ask follow-up questions through Gemini Live using voice.

The Gemini app can also generate interactive 3D models and simulations based on a prompt. A student asking to see how DNA works in 3D, for example, can receive a model that can be rotated and zoomed, while other responses can include interactive tables and grids.

Google is also bringing its learning features into a dedicated hub inside Gemini. Students can use the space to create study notebooks, flashcards, practice quizzes, and other learning materials in one place.

Google previously introduced study notebooks in Gemini as personalized learning spaces that adapt lessons and quizzes based on a student’s goals and knowledge gaps. The company is continuing to expand those tools as it competes with OpenAI and education-focused services including Knowt and Gauth.
