Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg has purchased Strancally Castle, a 19th-century estate in County Waterford, Ireland, along with 440 acres of surrounding land. The property is estimated to have cost between $23 million and $35 million and is located about a two-hour drive from Meta’s international headquarters in Dublin.
A spokesperson said Zuckerberg and his family are looking forward to spending time in Ireland and continuing to care for the historic property. Meta has maintained its international headquarters in Dublin for years.
The Estate Includes 11 Bedrooms and Four Tower Suites
According to The Guardian, Strancally Castle sits beside a river and is surrounded by extensive grounds.
The Irish Times previously reported that the property has at least 11 bedrooms, four tower suites, a library, a dining room, and a drawing room. Zuckerberg bought the estate from a financier who had lived there with his family for about 25 years.
The castle is in County Waterford, while Meta’s international headquarters is based in Dublin. Meta also opened a 31,000-square-foot data center near Dublin in 2017.
Zuckerberg Has Made Another Major Property Purchase This Year
The Irish estate is not Zuckerberg’s only large real estate purchase in 2026. He and his wife, Priscilla Chan, also reportedly bought a $170 million home in an exclusive Miami neighborhood where Amazon founder Jeff Bezos owns property.
That purchase came amid reports of wealthy technology executives increasing their real estate presence outside California as the state considers new approaches to taxing extreme wealth.
Zuckerberg has not disclosed how frequently he plans to use the Irish property. Meta has also not provided further comment beyond the spokesperson’s statement about the purchase.
