“Blockchain technology is being widely adopted throughout all major data-driven industries, and motorsport would fall behind if we didn’t start looking into the wide number of benefits it provides,” Plucknett told Cointelegraph.

Securing Data with Minima’s DePIN Data Logger

Minima’s DePIN data logger ensures the security and integrity of the data by hashing it on the blockchain. This immutable record helps verify the history and authenticity of the performance data, which is stored on the device independent of any validators’ permissions. For racing teams, this provides a transparent and tamper-proof record of the car’s service history, engine tuning, and maintenance, potentially enhancing the resale value of these high-performance vehicles.

One of the significant challenges in motorsport is ensuring compliance with racing regulations. After each race, officials must validate that the cars have adhered to the allowed specifications. This traditionally involves manually downloading and verifying the engine data, a process that can take up to three hours in parc fermé before the race winner is confirmed. With blockchain technology, this data can be automatically transferred and validated as the cars cross the finish line, significantly reducing the time required for post-race verification.

Plucknett explained, “After a race, the organizers need to validate that the cars have been racing according to the allowed specs. This means an official has to manually download the engine data and validate that the cars have not been tweaked. Having the immutable data transferred as the cars cross the finish line is hugely attractive.”

Plucknett expressed optimism about future regulatory clarity, stating that the U.S. market is “experiencing meaningful evolution” in its Ethereum staking policy. Similarly, he anticipates that the UK will “modernize the current regime and provide greater clarity to the staking market.”
