Zapp Electric Vehicles, a London-based electric two-wheeler manufacturer, is gearing up to expand its brand globally, with India as one of its key markets. The company plans to launch its first product, the i300 urban electric two-wheeler, in the UK next month, followed by Thailand. Zapp’s CEO, Swin Chatsuwan, shared that India, a significant market for two-wheelers, is now part of the company’s immediate expansion plans.

The decision to include India in the initial phase comes from recognizing the country’s vast market potential. India is the world’s most populous country and the second-largest two-wheeler manufacturer after China, with millions of two-wheelers sold annually. Last year alone, 2.8 million high-speed vehicles were sold, with 36% being heavy-weight cruiser motorcycles from Royal Enfield.
Zapp’s i300, featuring an aerospace-grade alloy load-bearing exoskeleton and a chrome-moly steel underbone design, aims to compete in the premium segment. The vehicle includes an air-cooled electric motor with a peak power of 14kW and two portable batteries, each with a 720Wh capacity.
The i300 will debut in Europe with a base price of $7,590, excluding taxes. While the exact pricing for India is not yet decided, it is expected to be between ₹500,000 and ₹1,000,000. This price point sets the i300 apart from local competitors like Ola Electric, TVS Motor, and Ather Energy, whose electric two-wheelers are priced between $1,000 and $1,800.
Zapp also plans to offer extensive personalization options for the i300, allowing customers to customize the vehicle’s color, wheel design, and add accessories such as hidden storage and fast chargers. After its initial launch phase, Zapp aims to expand to additional markets, including Spain, Italy, Vietnam, and Indonesia, as well as countries in the Middle East and South America.
