OpenAI, the creator of ChatGPT, is inviting aspiring startup founders to apply for a $1 million funding opportunity and access to exclusive resources through its Startup Fund. This offer is part of a six-week program, requiring a commitment of up to six hours weekly. The opportunity is open to all, including those with no prior AI experience or non-users of OpenAI products.
Recently, OpenAI’s co-founder and CEO Sam Altman, along with CTO and former interim CEO Mira Murati, shared a link on social platform X to an OpenAI blog post about “Converge 2.” This program is a follow-up to the first Converge session from December 2022. It’s designed for potential AI startup founders globally, requiring minimal initial information for application. The aim is to fund, coach, and provide expertise to 10-15 selected companies, each receiving $1 million, focusing on those in early stages of their startup journey.
Application Process: Interested individuals can apply online with just their name, a brief company description, social profile links of the founders, and a 30-second video pitch. Notably, using OpenAI’s APIs like GPT-3.5/4, ChatGPT Plus/Enterprise, Codex, DALL-E is not mandatory for applicants.
Program Details: “Converge 2” runs from March 11 to April 19, 2024, demanding a 4-6 hour weekly commitment. The program includes both remote and in-person events in San Francisco, with OpenAI covering travel costs. It offers a flexible, educational experience with tech talks, office hours, and networking events. The program is open to a diverse range of participants, promoting inclusivity and encouraging applications from underrepresented backgrounds and international founders.
