Ubisoft Pushes Back Mobile Releases for Rainbow Six and The Division

Ubisoft has announced delays for the mobile versions of its popular franchises, Rainbow Six and The Division, pushing their release until at least April 2025.

This update was shared in the company’s latest earnings report, highlighting that the development teams require “necessary time to ensure that these experiences deliver on expectations with optimised KPIs in the context of a demanding yet very large market.”

Both Rainbow Six Mobile and The Division Resurgence have faced multiple delays. Rainbow Six Mobile was initially slated for release in 2022, while The Division Resurgence was expected last year. Ubisoft executives, during an earnings call with investors, explained the difficulty in defining a specific release date despite having over eight months left in the fiscal year. They emphasized the company’s intention for these games to have long-lasting appeal, necessitating perfection at launch.

Ubisoft’s earnings report also noted the success of its free-to-play competitive shooter, XDefiant, which garnered 10 million players within its first two weeks after debuting in May. The report included positive updates on several live-service games, such as Rainbow Six Siege, The Crew Motorfest, and Skull and Bones, all of which are performing well according to the company.

Ubisoft’s Upcoming Releases for 2024

Additionally, Ubisoft has exciting projects lined up for the remainder of the year, including Star Wars Outlaws and Assassin’s Creed Shadows. These titles are anticipated to generate significant interest upon their release.

On the same earnings call, Ubisoft addressed the status of bringing Call of Duty games to cloud gaming services. Ubisoft acquired the cloud gaming rights to Activision Blizzard games from Microsoft to address competition regulators’ concerns and secure its Activision Blizzard merger.

As a result, Call of Duty titles are expected to start appearing on Ubisoft+ by the end of this year. This schedule coincides with Microsoft’s plan to release Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 on the now-more-expensive Game Pass in October, followed by the inclusion of other Call of Duty titles on the service.
